Why Is Copper So Special? The Two Faces of a Metal, From Fire to Energy
Copper is one of the first metals ever worked by human hands. The earliest archaeological evidence of copper use comes from Çayönü Tepesi, a Neolithic settlement in southeastern Turkey malachite and native copper beads found there date back to 7250–6750 BC. (Source: Journal of Archaeological Science, ScienceDirect) The oldest known copper artifact is a pendant dating to 8700 BC, found in northern Iraq. Copper shaped itself through every era of human history as vessels, jewelry, currency, objects of worship, and artistic material. Today, in the VETRIS atelier in Istanbul, the same metal meets the same fire but in three different languages.

What Makes Copper Different From Other Metals?
Copper is one of the rare metals found in pure form in nature. Along with gold and silver, it is among the few metals that can be used directly by hand without refinement. This gives it a primordial identity.
Its physical properties are what make it exceptional:
Copper is the second best conductor of electricity and heat after silver. It absorbs heat quickly and releases it slowly. When you hold a copper object, you first feel the coolness, then sense it gradually warming to match your body's temperature. It can be hammered, bent, and shaped it does not break, it bends. This flexibility allows it to speak with the maker's hand. Its surface changes over time; oxidation first darkens it, then produces the characteristic green patina. This transformation is not a flaw it is time writing its memory onto the surface. Scientific research has also shown that bacteria cannot survive on copper surfaces.

What Is Vitreous Enamel and How Does It Relate to Copper?
Vitreous enamel is a glass-based powder. In its raw state it may be colorless or colored. It finds its meaning in the kiln.
In the VETRIS production process, when ~850°C is reached, this powder melts and forms a chemical bond with the copper beneath it. What emerges is neither glass nor metal; it is a singular surface born from their union. The color, texture, and movement of light that appear in this process cannot be fully predicted in advance. The method of application, the order of layers, the position inside the kiln, the distribution of heat across the surface all these variables make every piece singular. Fire decides the color.
VETRIS uses vitreous enamel across all its collections. Every piece passes through this ~850°C threshold; every surface carries the trace of that fire, that moment, that maker's hand.

VETRIS Craft Series: The Essential Union of Enamel and Copper
The Craft Series is the purest and most direct expression of vitreous enamel on copper. In this series there is no additional material, appliqué, or external element only copper and enamel completing each other at ~850°C.
Every Craft Series piece carries a singular surface. The same color combination, the same pattern, the same movement of light cannot be reproduced. These pieces gain value as collector objects parts that join the memory of a space and deepen with time.

VETRIS Signature Series: Murano Glass and the Appliqué Method
The Signature Series is the collection where VETRIS brings vitreous enamel together with different materials and techniques. Two distinct approaches exist within this series.
The first approach uses MURANO glass. These glasses, sourced from the island of Murano in Italy, are worked onto copper together with vitreous enamel. The transparency of the glass and the depth of the enamel interweave to create surfaces of artistic depth found only in VETRIS pieces.
The second approach applies the APPLIQUÉ method. Copper figures coated with vitreous enamel are produced independently and transformed at ~850°C. Each figure has passed through its own production process, earned its own surface, and is incorporated into the VETRIS piece as an independent object through the appliqué method.
The Signature Series is the collection where VETRIS carries its craft language into more layered and thematic forms.

VETRIS Frequency Series: Pure Copper and Sacred Geometry
The other face of copper reveals itself in a quieter but equally powerful field.
Pure copper has been used in energy work and sacred geometry applications for centuries. The VETRIS Frequency Series is built on this understanding. A tensor ring is cut to a specific cubit measurement derived from ancient records. It is an energy tool formed by transforming pure copper wire into a closed loop through a special bending technique. The toroidal field at its center creates a regulating effect in the surrounding environment.
Copper Pyramids
Three distinct pyramid forms are produced at the VETRIS atelier:
GIZIA Form Copper Pyramid — 51.85°
Humanity's greatest geometric secret. Ancient Egyptian mathematicians encoded two universal constants simultaneously into this single angle: π and φ (the Golden Ratio = 1.618). The ratio of the apothem to the half-base is exactly 1.618; the base perimeter equals the circumference of a circle whose radius is the pyramid's height. GIZIA brings this ancient geometry to life in copper skeleton form. The open form allows light to pass through it geometry becomes visible, livable. Standard dimensions: Base 200×200 cm, Height 184 cm. Available in custom dimensions.
NUBIAN Form Copper Pyramid — 72°
The sacred angle of the pentagon. Where GIZIA rises with spreading calm, NUBIAN ascends with vertical force. The 72° slope is the angle of the pentagram's apex triangle. The Golden Ratio expresses itself here through the universe's fivefold symmetry. Drawing inspiration from the steep pyramids of ancient Meroe, this form is recognized today as one of the most powerful energy pyramid geometries. Standard dimensions: Base 94×94 cm, Height 169 cm. Available in custom dimensions.
THE VERTEX — Desktop Pyramid Series
A standard-dimension pyramid series fixed at a precise 51.85° angle, based on the geometric proportions of the King's Chamber. Produced in three sizes: S, M, and L. This angle does not change; it is held constant to preserve geometric integrity.

What Makes Copper Copper? Questions Answered
How long do copper objects last?
Under the right conditions, a copper object can last for decades, even generations. The vitreous enamel surface sealed at ~850°C is highly resistant to scratching and fading.
Does copper change color over time?
The outer surface of copper oxidizes over time and may darken. However, surfaces coated with vitreous enamel are protected from this change the glass-fired enamel forms a protective layer against air and moisture.
How do you clean a copper object?
Vitreous enamel surfaces can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth. Due to the nature of enamel, the piece should not be dropped or exposed to hard impacts. We will cover a detailed care guide in an upcoming article.
Can a tensor ring and a copper pyramid be used at the same time?
The Frequency Series pieces are designed to complement one another. We will cover space energy, geometry, and resonance in greater depth in upcoming articles.

Copper: One Material, Three Languages
At VETRIS, copper speaks three different languages.
In the Craft Series, copper speaks with fire pure, direct, singular. In the Signature Series, copper speaks with other materials entering into a layered dialogue with the transparency of Murano glass and the detail of appliqué figures. In the Frequency Series, copper speaks with silence carrying energy and resonance within geometric form.
In all three cases, the material is the same: copper. The language is different. And this difference makes VETRIS one of the rare ateliers that cannot be placed into a single category.
In this article we have only opened a door to each series. From vitreous enamel techniques to the working of Murano glass, from Sacred Cubit measurements to pyramid geometry we will address each of these subjects in depth in upcoming articles.
